The Challenge – Giving Back Through Golf... Together

On Thursday the 1st April, the National Golf Club Challenge team, together with Challenge Patron Sam Torrance hosted a Battle Back Golf Clinic at The Belfry. Watch the Battle Back Clinic as featured on ITV >>

Seven members of the Battle Back scheme enjoyed a master class from Sam, before receiving one-on-one tuition from attending golf professionals.

Letter of Appreciation
This week, we received a message of appreciation (in full below) from Sgt Dave Patterson – the message illustrates how money raised by everyone participating in the National Golf Club Challenge will make a huge difference in the lives of our injured service personnel.

The National Golf Club Challenge, in aid of Help for Heroes, is on course to becoming the biggest amateur golf charity event the UK has seen. To be held on 24th and 25th July, it will unite hundreds of golf clubs and thousands of golfers in demonstrating their support for our injured armed forces.

For more information, visit the National Golf Club Challenge website >>

As well as raising a lot of money for the Help for Heroes charity, golfers will compete for some outstanding prizes, including golfing holidays to Egypt - and to be awarded the stunning 'Lee Westwood Cup'.

Sgt Dave Patterson, Royal Engineers

I would just like to thank you for what you are doing with the National Golf Club Challenge – and how much it means to all the soldiers that it will help.

As one of the injured soldiers that attended the golf clinic at The Belfry (Sgt Dave Patterson), I want to let you know how the day has helped with my physical and social rehabilitation. I found it really beneficial to interact with the pros and others in attendance – something I have struggled with as a result of the injuries that I sustained.

The golf tuition that I received from Tim Barter has really helped me. Since the clinic, I have spent as much time as I can on the driving range to work on what Tim taught me – and it is working, I think!
