08/10/09 Virgin Atlantic Sponsor the 2010 National Golf Club Challenge Momentum Continues to Grow for the National Golf Club Challenge – July 2010 Virgin Atlantic is the latest high profile sponsor to add their support to the 2010 National Golf Club Challenge. The Challenge, tipped to be the largest amateur golf event to take place in the UK, aims to raise a million pounds for the Help for Heroes charity. The National Golf Club Challenge, to be held on the 24th and 25th July 2010, will bring hundreds of golf clubs, and thousands of golfers together on the same weekend as part of a nationwide charity golf event. “Virgin Atlantic are proud to support the 2010 National Golf Club Challenge in support of Help for Heroes. It is a fantastic, worthwhile charity and we are proud to be associated as a sponsor for this event. We wish you all good luck and hope you enjoy what is going to be the biggest amateur charity golf event the UK has ever seen.” Virgin Atlantic Golfers participating in the National Golf Club Challenge will compete for some outstanding golfing prizes – including golf holidays to Egypt – and a chance to play in the Challenge Final at one of the world’s leading golf resorts, The Belfry, four times host to the Ryder Cup. Virgin Atlantic join a host of other big-name sponsors, such as The Sun newspaper, Marriott (Taba Heights & Sawgrass), Titleist, Motocaddy, American Golf, Your Golf Travel and more. The Challenge also continues to enjoy endorsements from TV celebrities and various European Tour golfers, recently including Nick Dougherty. “Help the Heroes is a charity close to all of our hearts, the service men and women risking their lives every day are unsung heroes and the National Golf Club Challenge is a great way to raise money for those injured at war. The Challenge gives us all a chance to do our bit to help our injured heroes and I urge you to enter your team now.” Nick Dougherty, European Tour Player. Stacey Jeffries, Challenge organiser said about the event “With golf clubs registering for the Challenge almost daily, we are expecting thousands of golfers to compete over the 24th and 25th July as they do battle to become the National Golf Club Challenge Champions for 2010.” “We are so grateful for all the great support we are receiving” Stacey comments, “Virgin Atlantic are a superb addition to our corporate sponsors and have already opened doors to other opportunities.” The format for the National Golf Club Challenge is very simple; the Challenge will coincide with each participating golf club's monthly stableford event, with each club turning the day into their own charity golf event, raising much needed funds for Help for Heroes. The competing clubs will submit their aggregate scores from their best scoring 10 players. This will determine the top 6 golf clubs against standard scratch, who will then be invited to compete in the National Final, which will take place next October at The Belfry.
