12/11/09 Prestigious De vere venues to play in the national golf club challenge De Vere Hotels, Resorts & Venues will be supporting the 2010 National Golf Club Challenge The National Golf Club Challenge is pleased to announce that all 11 of the prestigious UK De Vere Hotels, Resorts & Venues golfing resorts will be participating in the 2010 Challenge event, with the aim of raising thousands of pounds for the worthy Help for Heroes cause. The National Golf Club Challenge, tipped to be the largest amateur golf event to take place in the UK, will bring hundreds of golf clubs, and thousands of golfers together on the same weekend as part of a nationwide charity golf event – with the aim of raising a million pounds for the Help for Heroes charity. The Challenge will be held on the 24th and 25th July 2010. Golfers up and down the country will compete for some outstanding golfing prizes – including golf holidays to Egypt. Richard Barker, Golf and Leisure Sales Manager for De Vere Group, commented, "We have continued to support golf at various levels at all of our resorts in recent years and the National Golf Club Challenge is a great opportunity for us to support not only club golf, but also a very worthy cause. I am sure our members will enjoy playing these events that little bit more knowing that they are contributing to the Help the Heroes campaign." De Vere Hotels, Resorts and Venues boast a portfolio of luxury venues throughout the UK, from the stunning Carrick on Loch Lomond in the Scottish Highlands to Dunston Hall in Norfolk and the prestigious Slaley Hall in Northumberland. With 17 golf courses at eleven properties, De Vere has welcomed some of world golf’s most decorated names in over 20 years of hosting European Tour, European Senior Tour and Ladies European Tour events, as well as the 2009 PGA Cup. Stacey Jeffries, Challenge organiser said "De Vere Hotels, Resorts & Venues are some of the most prestigious golfing venues in the country and their commitment to The National Golf Club Challenge is a major boost." The format for the National Golf Club Challenge is very simple; the Challenge will coincide with each participating golf club's monthly stableford event, with each club turning the day into their own charity golf event, raising much needed funds for Help for Heroes. The competing clubs will submit their aggregate scores from their best scoring 10 players. This will determine the top 6 golf clubs against standard scratch, who will then be invited to compete in the National Final, which will take place next October at The Belfry.
